The Rare Book & Manuscript Library on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was established in 1936 by two professors, Harris Fletcher and Thomas Baldwin. The collection has close to half a million volumes and over three kilometers of manuscripts material. Major collections include early printing, Elizabethan and Stuart periods, various editions of the Bible, renaissance school books, Anthony Trollope, Carl Sandburg, and H.G. Wells.
